$1,481.00 donated to Helping Hand Home for Children on behalf of the Ryan Family. When the Ryan’s relocated to Austin and purchased their new home, they wanted to support a nonprofit that helped better the lives of children. Helping Hand Home for Children provides a nurturing and therapeutic home for children who have suffered abuse and neglect. In 1893, an abandoned newborn was discovered in a shoebox at Austin’s railway station, was cared for by a group of local women and the first childcare facility in Austin was formed. Today it is known as Helping Hand Home for Children.
